The Institute for Precision Medicine hosts a monthly lecture series to highlight advances in Precision Medicine research and in Personalized Care – not only at Pitt/UPMC but across the United States.

The second IPM presentation for the Fall 2022 semester will be given by Edward Abrahams, PhD, and Daryl Pritchard, PhD, on October 12th at 4:00pm via Zoom.

In their presentation entitled ‘Why Personalized Medicine Matters’, Edward Abrahams, President, Personalized Medicine Coalition and Daryl Pritchard, Senior Vice President for Science Policy, will present an overview of the history and status of personalized medicine, and a program to advance the field.

Edward Abrahams, PhD, is the President of the Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC), an education and advocacy organization based in Washington, DC. Representing innovators, scientists, patients, providers and payers, PMC promotes the understanding and adoption of personalized medicine concepts, services and products for the benefit of patients and the health system. It has grown from its original 18 founding members in 2004 to more than 220 today.

Daryl Pritchard, PhD, is the Senior Vice President of Science Policy at PMC, where he leads the Coalition’s efforts to develop and promote optimal science-related policies and to increase awareness and understanding of personalized medicine among health care providers, patients, policymakers and other stakeholders. This includes working to identify and address barriers to the adoption of personalized medicine into the health care system, including the development and promotion of appropriate clinical, infrastructure, regulatory and payment policies.

Please mark your calendars for October 12th at 4:00pm.
