The Institute for Precision Medicine hosts a monthly speaker series to highlight advances in Precision Medicine research and in Personalized care – not only at Pitt/UPMC but across the United States.
The final IPM Fall 2022 speaker series talk will be given by Amy Meister DO, MRO, on December 14th at 4:00pm via Zoom. Meister is the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Insurance Services Division at UPMC where she facilitates the development of innovative clinical programs for all health insurance and benefit management products, including assuming responsibility for clinical oversight of digital and telehealth approaches.
In her presentation entitled ‘From Benefit Design to Beside: Connecting Patients to Research, Data and Care Delivery’, Dr. Meister will introduce the health insurance industry, terminology, and benefit design process. Navigating healthcare is tricky, and the health insurance industry is no exception. The talk will cover how new tests, medications, procedures, and services get covered, and explore regulatory and governmental oversight as these entities often impact coverage and cost determinations.
Dr. Meister received her DO from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at John Hopkins University. She additionally completed the Marshall Webster Physician Leadership Program at the University of Pittsburgh, Katz School of Business, Dr. Meister holds a strong background in several important areas including population health management, best practices in care delivery, including virtual health, and managed care services.
