IPM Speaker Series

The Institute for Precision Medicine hosts a monthly virtual speaker series via Zoom to highlight advances in Precision Medicine research and in Personalized care – not only at Pitt/UPMC but across the United States.

The next IPM Fall 2023 speaker series: “Population Genome Science and Precision Oncology” will be given by John D. Carpten, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer, Irell & Manella Cancer Center Director’s Distinquished Chair, Morgan & Helen Chu Director’s Chair of the Beckman Research Institute, Professor, Department of Integrative Translational Sciences, City of Hope. on December 13th, 2023 at 4:00pm EST via Zoom.

Dr. Carpten’s expertise spans a very broad range of research disciplines including genome science, tumor profiling, cancer cell biology, functional genomics, health disparities, and precision medicine. The primary goal of Dr. Carpten’s research program is to discover molecular alterations in cancer and to translate these findings into new approaches for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.  In support of this goal, his program is actively involved in the development and application of cutting-edge technologies and novel bioinformatics approaches for discovery research.  .
