Rachel joined the UPMC Genome Center in September 2017. She graduated from Carlow University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a certification as an Autopsy Specialist. She worked in a CLIA laboratory for the last 7 years and spent the majority of her time in the immunohistochemistry laboratory where she became HT(ASCP)and QIHC certified. Her focus was on optimizing and validating IHC antibodies and lab processes improvement. She is responsible for sample receiving and accessioning, DNA and RNA extraction and QC, automated library preparation for WGS, WES, and WTS, and sequencing on the Illumina platforms.
